Anna Reber (b. 1960 Berne, Switzerland) is an artist who loves spending time in the outdoors. Her paintings are often inspired by outdoor ventures, the colors she sees in daily life and how things are arranged in nature. Primarily an abstract painter who works with different mediums, Reber builds forms and colors and knits them together through layers of materials in her work.

To explore the world Reber used to work as a flight attendant for Swissair for a few years. During that time she had the opportunity to discover the famous Art Institute in Chicago, which she visited every time on her stop-overs in the city. In 2005, Reber met the Argentinian-Swiss artist Ricardo Abella in Switzerland and started private classes with him. In 2010, she returned to Chicago for a summer semester at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. In 2019, Reber exhibited at Scope Miami and was included in the Atlante dell'Arte Contemporanea curated by Daniele Radini Tedeschi and published by De Agostini.

She is interested in the interplay of colors and forms and the movements resulting from them. She sees a landscape, an insect, an animal or even a human being - and tries to capture mentally and illustrate the effect of its motion with colors and, in recent years, increasingly with abstract forms. It is a different view of nature. A view that above all triggers a feeling of boundless, contentment and peace - inner peace.

It is the exploration of nature that enables her to expand the expressive language related to space and time, confirming George Byron's view that, "There is a pleasure in the pathless woods, there is a rapture on the lonely shore, there is society, where none intrudes, by the deep Sea, and music in its roar: I love not Man less, but Nature more".

Reber lives and works in Berne, Switzerland.

Curator's Eye
Anna Reber masterfully captures the untamed abandon of the natural world in her paintings, reminding the viewer that these natural formations represent the most sublime, pure essence of beauty. As the brushstrokes frivolously dance across the canvas with energy and fervour, it is evident that these works encapsulate the crucial relationship between humans and nature.
