Bio

Anna Reber (b. 1960 Berne, Switzerland) is known for her large scale works. She received her training at the renowned School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Her artistic practice centers on an intense engagement with nature. Anna Reber has the ability to translate complex environmental phenomena - geysers, glacier and deep-sea currents - into a purely abstract emotional language. There is a palpable sense of 'breath' in her work; it feels living and active rather than static. Her training in the USA is evident in her sophisticated handling of space, where she avoids the common pitfalls of decorative abstraction by imaging each color choice with a specific atmospheric weight. Pieces like Jostedalsbreen are particularly successful because they navigate the delicate line between semi-abstraction and figuration, allowing the viewer enough visual cues to recognize the 'glacial' inspiration while remaining free to explore the work's internal logic. This duality creates a world that is both recognizable and mysterious.

Anna Reber’s expressive works have been showcased on major international platforms, including Scope Miami and the Saatchi Gallery in London.

She lives and works in Berne, Switzerland.
